Overview
I designed and developed the visual interface used to DEMO the hand-held control system.
The goal of the project was to clearly communicate the drone’s sensor capabilities
and real-time environmental awareness through animated visualization and interactive UI elements.
The interface demonstrated the functionality of multiple onboard sensors,
including LiDAR, infrared imaging, and standard optical cameras.
One of the most important capabilities I visualized was the drone’s ability to reconstruct a 3D floor plan
of the interior environment while flying through a structure.
The animation showed how LiDAR data is translated into a spatial map,
allowing operators to understand building layouts and identify points of interest in real time.
The system also demonstrated how the drone can mark the locations of detected hostile or unknown
individuals within the reconstructed environment,
providing operators with critical situational awareness during reconnaissance missions.
This visualization helped communicate the drone’s core mission: exploring unknown indoor environments,
mapping the interior space, and identifying potential threats.
